In the heart of Oklahoma City’s growing creative community, Micah Wilson, known professionally as Galavonni, is carving out a space for herself as a model, fashion designer, and creative director. Born and raised in OKC with a brief stint in Encino, California, Galavonni’s artistry reflects a mix of bold individuality, emotional depth, and a playful touch that makes her one of the most intriguing creatives in the region.
“I definitely feel I live my art,” she says. “All projects are very close to home. Even if it’s
something I don’t have the strongest connection to culturally or geographically, I resonate with it in a way that allows me to express myself within the culture or area I’m portraying.”
From Expression to Intention
For Galavonni, her creative journey started as a natural extension of self-expression in her early years. “My childhood was very expressive. I was kind of allowed to do anything—my attitude, my clothes—so I was always expressing myself in different ways,” she reflects. “Social media became a turning point. I realized I could share anything at any moment and grow a platform, so I started being more intentional with what I created and shared.”
Initially focused on modeling, she quickly expanded her skill set to include design and creative direction. These roles, while distinct, intersect seamlessly in her work. “Modeling allowed me to realize how important a model is in the execution of something—they’re the forefront of what everyone sees. Designing taught me how crucial it is for something to really fit and play to the strengths of the model. Creative direction gave me the overall vision and a deeper understanding of how all the elements come together.”
Crafting a Vision
Whether it’s a striking design or a high-concept photo shoot, storytelling is at the heart of everything Galavonni creates. “Storytelling is the fuel for any project,” she says. “Most of the projects I start are because I have something I want to say or share. It can be skin-deep—an emotion, a color—or something deeply emotional. That’s what drives everything.”
Her creative process begins with timing and intuition, often inspired by seasons or holidays. “For Valentine’s Day, I had a photo shoot surrounding love and heartbreak,” she explains. “For Christmas, I leaned into themes of snow and the holidays. Each season creates its own mood, and I build from there—starting with mood boards, pulling from adjacent themes, even drawing from history.”
This thoughtful approach extends to her personal style, which she describes in two words: intentional and emotional. “If I have something on, it was really well thought out—even if it’s casual. The colors and choices are always intentional and reflect how I’m feeling that day.”
OKC Roots, Universal Reach
Although her work transcends geographical boundaries, Galavonni credits Oklahoma City’s culture and creative community for shaping her perspective. “Oklahoma is like a small town,” she says. “Networking is everything. We don’t have as many resources, so people become our strongest resource. It’s reflective of how much grit and authenticity there is here. Oklahoma could really stand out by showcasing what we’ve done with so little.”
Her connection to the OKC creative scene is especially evident in her collaborations. She highlights her work with Midwest HQ, where she’s partnered with co-founders Lauren Boone and Eliana Johnson. “They’re a joy to be around—so joyful and bright. They put so much into the behind-the-scenes work, which made everything easier. It was such an enjoyable process.”
Redefining Beauty and Play
At the core of Galavonni’s artistry is a celebration of individuality and joy. “Beauty is very individual. It’s where you find the epitome of happiness,” she says. “In fashion, it’s about playing to your strengths—knowing what fits you, your color palette, and what makes you feel comfortable.”
This sense of playfulness is a recurring theme in her work. “I love incorporating childlike wonder,” she says. “We’re forced to be serious in everyday life, so I try to give people an opportunity to have fun. Stripes are one of my favorite patterns because they remind me of that.”
Looking Ahead
As someone who thrives on collaboration, Galavonni is eager to continue exploring new creative partnerships. “I’d love to work with someone with contrasting views to mine—stylistically or emotionally. It would be exciting to see what we could create together.”
Through her designs, modeling, and creative direction, Galavonni hopes to inspire others to embrace their unique vision. “I want to communicate that you can bring all your thoughts to life. If you really focus on what you want to share, you can make it happen.”
In Oklahoma City and beyond, Galavonni is proving that art, individuality, and community are the cornerstones of creative success. “There’s so much talent here,” she says, “and given the opportunity, Oklahoma’s creatives can really stand out.”
